EACH ARTWORK HAS ITS STORY
The "Mirror Collection" works in pairs. One model is repeated in the other, sometimes in reverse, sometimes in complementarity.
Poles always meet: this series creates links. When a person buys a work from the collection, he or she accepts that another work, related to it, belongs to another person in the world (the opposite of the work is “Lilí va a la playa”).
THE APPROACH TO WORK
Severine C. likes not to show the eyes, because they are often the ones who attract the eye in a work, each spectator seeking his own humanity as an extension of himself. Also, she prefers that the eye focuses on adjacent details, most often proposed in ink.
Severine also wants to invite people to look at the world with a different gaze, in a society where monstration is the rule.
As the artist does not wish to reveal figurative portraits in her practice, it is with redrawn portraits that she is interested in the art of the face. Having been bathed in her childhood by Spain, she uses the primary colors that, according to her, are sufficient for themselves by their vivacity and energy.
Why this tittle?
A mixture of humour and Spanish language, so dear to the heart of the artist! An ode to liberated femininity.
