After experimenting with different styles, geometric, figurative, or abstract, Severine C. Camus gradually moved towards a semi-figurative style with touches of onirism, making color her central point. The latter does not respect reality, becoming the artist’s subjective tool. The hand unties itself, the brush strokes become wider, the formats expand, the shapes overlap, the perspectives fade. Human forms are sleek, sometimes barely visible. The motifs arise as they appear in the mind, investing the entire canvas. Maximalism alternates with minimalism, depending on the media used, most often acrylic and Chinese ink.

The artist seeks, through color and subjective freedom, to be a witness of our time. Urban or cultural scenes, the ordinary rooms of our homes, are all places of inspiration. It is in simplicity that beauty is found. The great question that drives it is that of the place of Human within the Living. Nature and Human presence are never opposed, but on the contrary linked by symbiotic use.
