BACKGROUND AND INFLUENCES
Before becoming visual artist and author, Severine C. Camus learned the culture of excellence by evolving in the world of wine, on communication positions, human ressources management and international trade.
• Training: : Self-taught, which shaped her hybrid vision between visual creation and narrative, her work ranges from painting to drawing, design, set design, prop & interior styling, writing. She refuses uniformity, and claims imperfection as a witness to our humanity. She is also therapist.
• Influences: Her work is marked by various influences, ranging from Henri Matisse to contemporary art, including scientific literature, as well as ecological and societal issues.
• Style: Her style is characterized by a poetic and symbolic aesthetic, tinged with expressive colors and overlayed forms and subjects, often giving her works a maximalist look. Particular attention is paid to the materials and their symbolism.
EXPRESSION DOMAINS
. Painting: She develops pictorial series where shapes and colors dialogue with visual narratives, sometimes inspired by landscapes, places, fragments of life, or even images from her unconscious.
. Scenography: She designs spaces in small universes ("The Kube"), for exhibitions or performances, where the viewer is invited to a meeting experience.
. Writing: Her texts, whether poetic, narrative or theoretical, can accompany her visual projects. She publishes books and poems, which extend her artistic reflection.
. Design: She also participates in the design of objects or spaces, with an approach where the overall expression blends with an intuitive dimension.
RECURRING THEMES
Her work explores deep themes such as identity, memory, and the links between humans and ecosystems. It is often associated with an exploratory artistic approach, where aesthetic mingle with a reflection on the contemporary world.
Proteiform, Severine C. Camus seeks, in everything she undertakes, to recreate life-size, living paintings. Thus, artistic works are no longer central, but a means in the service of greater: a place, a wall, a room, a universe, a project, an object, life...
To her, it is important that Human and what emanates from him, like art, must never crush what surrounds him. Balance becomes the watchword, in a form of modern ecology.
